An Afternoon at Home | Documentary Family Photography in Central Ohio

There’s something about photographing a family at home that feels a little extra special. The familiar spaces, the freedom for children to run and play, and all those little moments that happen when no one is worried about being perfectly posed.

I spent two hours with this family at their Central Ohio home, following along as the afternoon unfolded. We wandered through the yard, played in the golden evening light, shared plenty of laughs, and made room for those quieter moments of connection in between. Nothing needed to be rushed, and that’s exactly what I loved about it.

These are the kinds of family photographs I find myself drawn to most. A little nostalgic, a little imperfect, and full of personality. The kind that might remind you of flipping through old family photographs years from now, remembering not just what everyone looked like, but what this season of life actually felt like.

If you've ever worried that your children won't sit still or that your family needs to be perfectly coordinated for photographs, I hope this session reminds you otherwise. Some of my favorite images come from letting children be children and giving families the space to simply enjoy being together.

Whether we're exploring your backyard, snuggling in the grass, or chasing the last bit of evening sunlight, my family sessions are about preserving the little things that make your family yours.

Because someday, those ordinary afternoons might be the moments you miss the most.
