Studio Newborn Photography for a Family of Five in Columbus

There’s something especially beautiful about welcoming a new baby into a family that already knows the rhythm of love, chaos, and togetherness. This newborn session in my studio was a perfect example of that quiet magic. From the moment this family arrived, it was clear how deeply connected they were. Big brother and big sister, still little themselves, came in full of curiosity and energy. Eager to explore the studio space and see what the day would bring. And honestly? They did so well. With gentle guidance, breaks to wiggle, and plenty of reassurance, they showed up exactly as they are, playful, proud, and completely smitten with their new baby.

Their newborn sister, on the other hand, was a sleepy dream. From the very beginning, baby settled into a deep, peaceful sleep and stayed there throughout the session. This allowed for posing, creative angles, and beautifully layered setups. Everything you hope for during a newborn session. When a baby is that relaxed, it creates space to slow down and focus on the tiny details like curled fingers, pouty lip, and the way a baby naturally melts into your hands.

What I loved most about this session was the balance. The calm, quiet moments with baby paired so sweetly with the gentle energy of older siblings learning their new role. There was laughter, movement, and softness all in one space, exactly what real family life looks like in those early weeks. Newborn sessions with siblings don’t have to be perfect or rigid. They’re about patience, flexibility, and allowing kids to be kids while still creating meaningful, heirloom-worthy images. This family embraced that beautifully, and the result was a gallery full of connection, tenderness, and timeless moments they’ll look back on for years to come.

If you’re expecting and wondering what a newborn session might look like with older children, this is your reminder: it doesn’t need to be stressful. With the right pacing and a baby-led approach, it can be calm, creative, and incredibly special.
